In 2014, there were protests in response to the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, in which activists lined the streets of New York. To show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen hired food trucks to serve over 500 free hot meals to protestors. Although they did not originally publically advertise that they delivered the food, when they were revealed to be behind it they turned the attention back around to promote the movement rather than to promote their own generousity.
